From the introduction of the Reformation in Ducal Prussia in 1525 until its destruction in 1945, it was an evangelical temple. Services for Catholics - mainly for soldiers - were celebrated in Ostroda again from 1834, only twice a year. On behalf of the Chełmno diocese, Fr. became the permanent pastor. Szczepan Keller, who celebrated the first mass for 50 participants on October 23, 1853. Initially, there was no permanent chapel, and from the following year services were held in the castle.
