Drzonkow. Photo guide

The name comes from the old Polish word drzen meaning wood. The village was first mentioned in 1305 under the name Dronkow. The next mention, which came from 1376, referred to the church in Drzonkow and the owner of the village at that time was the von Kittlitz family. Later, part of Drzonkow was purchased by the Rothenburgs and until 1611 both families maintained their properties. Hans von Kalkreuth bought the estate from the Kittlitz family, and after a short time he sold it to the von Knobelsdorff family. From 1688, Drzonkow was divided into two parts, and from 1722 into three, which was due to the division of the inheritance.
